It all began in 1933 when Miguel Boadas, a Catalan born in Cuba, wanted to use his experience as a bartender in the mythical “Floridita de La Habana” to bring the art of mixing drinks to Barcelona.

The classic interior of Boadas
In spite of the fact that it's currently an “in” bar in the trendy scene, and that it's located on the corner of Tallers and Las Ramblas (one of the most touristic corners in the city), Boadas Cocteleria is one of the few refuges of authenticity in the center of Barcelona. Intimate and cozy, with a long wooden bar and matching bar stools, its walls filled with paintings and decorative art, the service is handled by a batallion of veteran waiters impeccably dressed in classic smoking jackets.
At first glance it might seem that we've found ourselves in an F. Scott Fitzgerald novel. And here is where we notice one of the key features of this bar- it's eclectic and refined clientele. Here mingle the most loyal barflies, locals celebrating special occasions, and foreigners- all smartly dressed. This is due to the throwback bar code employed by the bar, and enforced diligently by its doorman. Don't even think about entering here with shorts on, it's explicitly prohibited. In Boadas the atmosphere is groomed to be cordial and enjoyable, even if it may fill to capacity rather quickly (thanks to its small size). In any case, Cocteleria Boadas merits a visit from any visitor who enjoys to imbibe in a classically classy setting. The cocktails are classic too, and there is one for all tastes: Vodka Collins, Bloody Mary, Gimlet, Rob Roy...
For all of this, Boadas has gained a distinguished reputation en Barcelona, nay, in all of Spain, as one of the best cocktail shops in the country (along with Dry Martini). Its pioneering founder brought the art of the modern cocktail to the city, and for that we are all grateful, and a little bit happier. Enjoy a cool mixed drink and then retire to one of our hot Barcelona apartments and enjoy everything that the city's night life has to offer.

A meal at ‘Els 4Gats’ in the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona will transport you to the beginning of Modernistic art and leads you to imagine a young Picasso enjoying evenings with his many contemporaries, discussing matters that transformed into some of the most famous works of art in the 20th Century.
The history is rich with importance and intrigue, starting with its name. ‘Els Quatre Gats’, is Catalan for ‘The Four Cats’, and is a slang term meaning just a few people. It was chosen by Pere Romeu, the creator, in a self-deprecating play on words, as in: “Nobody was at the restaurant but four cats.”
Romeu was a successful performer in the famous cabaret bar ‘Le Chat Noir’ in Paris and he wished to establish a meeting place for him and his conversationalist companions in Barcelona that would resemble this restaurant. ‘Els 4Gats’ was born in June of 1897 and it quickly became a favorite spot for poets, painters, musicians, and architects, the most famous being Picasso, who held his first public exhibition in the café. However, Romeu was overcome by his idealistic dream of owning the restaurant as a birthplace for artistic ideas rather than as a profitable business, and soon his generosity with bills and tabs forced him to shut it down in 1903, to the dismay of the people of Barcelona.

It was later reopened by another artistic circle and thrived until the Spanish Civil War changed the entire city until the 1970´s where it was once again brought back to life by three businessmen. Now it is a beautifully renovated restaurant with art hung on all the walls and even a menu depicting an original drawing by Picasso for that very purpose. The atmosphere is different than the numerous other cafes in the Gothic Quarter and the food is also of high quality and taste.
‘Els 4Gats’ is tucked away in the Gothic Quarter at Carrer de Montsió 3, just a couple short blocks away from Las Ramblas. The menu features a diverse mix of Catalan cuisine and an extensive wine list, and if you are interested in dining during for lunch, the Menu del Día offers a surprisingly diverse list of two courses and a dessert for a relatively inexpensive price of 12,50€.

This bar, situated in the street Sitges number 5, is very closed to the Ramblas and is one of the oldest bars in Barcelona. For this reason, clients continue to come here because of its fame. The environment is more English and tends to have a younger crowd. For this reason, many students of Barcelona and tourists come to this bar.

The bar is perfect for groups of people of large size and is well decorated with different styles of light. But without a doubt, one of the most striking features is the skill of the waiters moving trays full of mugs of beer, sangria and calimocho.
Another feature is the side of the popcorn that they serve with drinks. This is very original for a bar in Barcelona..
For those who do not know where it is, it can be difficult to find. Once on the Ramblas, take the first street on the right,Tallers street, and then go straight down the first street on the left. View our apartments Barcelona near this area to enjoy the nightlife.
This bar also has a sister bar that is located at Zamora Street number 78. Here, the Erasmus students drink beer and play pool.
This pub is totally different than the first. It is an industrial warehouse converted into tavern, which makes it much larger. Young people tend to have a drink in this bar and then continue the night in one of the clubs in the area.
For this reason, Ovella Negra is a place of great tradition in the city and a must for those who want to enjoy Barcelona's nightlife.

Barcelona's various beaches are beautifully maintained and offer clean water, white sand and are completely equipped with all services. The city unites all the conditions of a perfect place to visit during the day or night: culture, leisure, sun, fun…
Barceloneta beach is one of the largest beaches in Barcelona. It is 1,100 meters long and is the preferred beach by tourists. As for services, it offers three beach volleyball courts, a leisure area with a ping-pong table, a gym area, and the Beach Center.

Icária beach is smaller and more peaceful. It has more than 400 meters of sand and we are constantly finding younger beaches. Icária is equipped with a great area for sports (ping-pong, volleyball…).
Mar Bella Beach is one that was prepared and modernized for the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games. It measures up to 500 meters long and might be the beach that is most preferred by the younger crowd. It offers an area for
children's games, a space for skateboarding, volleyball courts, a nautical base, and even an area where some are able to practice nudism.
El Bogatell beach is similar to the New Icária and is also completely equipped with all services such as cautious life-guards, areas for games and bars, and drinks and ice cream.
As you can see, Barcelona beaches offer a variety of sand and sun that can be enjoyed by everyone.
If you would like to take maximum advantage of Barcelona's beaches, we have an ample selection of Barcelona apartments located only a few minutes in walking distance from the beaches.

On Ramón Trias Fargas Street, number 2, en the Port Olympic zone on Barceloneta beach, near many of our Barcelona apartments, we can find a bar that actually leaves us FROZEN, the ICE BARCELONA.
A visit is an experience in itself, because there is a bar made completely of ice, as if you have been treated to a great igloo. And not only is this bar made of ice, but also the tables, chairs, and of course, the cups are not made of crystal but of crystal-clear ice. As you can imagine, it is extremely cold in the bar as they keep it at a continuous room temperature of less than five degrees, and so that you are about able to spend the forty-five minutes maximum of time enjoyably, you will be offered a snow jacket, a pair of gloves and a cap!
Without a doubt, this is one of the most modern creations by a great Dutch designer known for the originality of his works, where you can enjoy a great variety of cocktails while also enjoying the environment.
And if you tire of the cold and want to enjoy delicious tapas, while also seeing marvelous views of the sea, you can also visit the terrace, where you are able to enjoy with your friends the great food and incredible atmosphere.
The ICE BARCEONA is open every day from midnight until 3am, and there is no excuse to miss out if you want to see of the most original bars in Barcelona.
